Guilded Games

Wednesdays | 2:30 - 5 p.m.
Join us for our weekly Guilded Games event! Our diverse tabletop game collection is available to play, and once a month a librarian will introduce a new game to our participants. This is a free event and is open to ages 13 to 17.

STEMsational: Speaker Making

February 29 | 4:30 - 6 p.m. | Ages 11 - 17
Do you think you could make your own working speaker out of paper? Come hear (and see) firsthand how vibrations make sound waves at this soundsational event. Registration is required.

We’re providing laptops for you to work on your college applications in a quiet, focused atmosphere. Our librarians will be on hand to assist with reference questions while you work on your application. It's your time to concentrate, and we’ve got the tools and space for you.   • LEGO Engineering | Monday, March 18 
    For #MakerMonday, show off your LEGO building skills by taking on our building challenges. Sets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. 
  • The Science of Role-Player Games  | Tuesday, March 19
    Tabletop gamers and dungeon masters, unite!  Dive into the fascinating lore of world building and character creation in role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons. Come to enhance your gaming knowledge, and stay to make some new friends.
  • A Galaxy of Fun | Wednesday, March 20 
    Let’s celebrate the Hubble Telescope which launched in April of 1990. Join your fellow space explorers as we study the breathtaking galaxies and nebulas captured by Hubble’s cameras. At the end of this event, we’ll help you make a floating UFO to take home.  
  • Paint Like Picasso | Thursday, March 21
    For artists and aspiring artists, every day is a good day to practice, so come to the library to sketch in a relaxed environment. Librarians will provide canvases, supplies and how-to sheets for creating abstract and Cubist art, as well as fantasy creatures and anime characters.

Animal Encounter

Saturday, March 23 | 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. &  1 - 2 p.m. | Ages 5 - 14 | 3 - 4 p.m. | All Ages 

The City of Altamonte Springs Park Rangers will bring special guests for a “wild” time at the Library. Come learn about local wildlife, their habitats and how to safely be around them. Admission is free. Registration is required.
