Introduce your kids to Spanish with this fun 8-week series of classes for ages 6 to 10. No prior language knowledge is required. Lessons cover basic phrases and vocabulary and build on each other every week. Registration is required.

English for Families

Wednesdays | Now - April 10 | 5 - 6:30 p.m.
English for Families is a fun and engaging 10-week series of interactive classes for children ages 6 to 12 and their parents or caregivers. Focusing on vocabulary development and literacy skills, sessions are designed to improve the language proficiency of individuals whose native language is not English. They provide the essential reading strategies for school-age children to succeed in the classroom while also developing basic adult language skills needed in everyday life.

Super Mario Day

Saturday, March 9 | 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. & 1 - 3 p.m. | Ages 5 - 14
Come celebrate Super Mario Day with us and participate in activities that will delight any Mario, Luigi or Princess Peach fan! Join us in the morning to make your own Yoshi egg, play tabletop Mario Kart and craft Mario bookmarks and buttons. In the afternoon, see if you have what it takes to find your way out of Bowser’s Escape Room! Registration is required for Bowser's Escape Room.

LEGO Engineering Day/LEGO Makers Club

Monday, March 18 | 4 - 5 p.m. | Ages 5 - 14
The Altamonte Springs Science Incubator (AS₂I) and the City Library host a monthly LEGO Makers Club. Patrons ages 5 to 14 build themed LEGO STEM creations based on the challenge card they select. LEGO sets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Kids Spring Break

The City Library is hosting seriously fun, free activities during Spring Break week. Each day offers different activities, from arts and crafts to stories and games! Registration is not required.

  • Art Day  |  Monday, March 18
    Librarians will help you design and create your own painting. No drawing or painting experience is necessary.  
  • Science of Laughter  |  Tuesday, March 19
    Celebrate “Let’s Laugh Day” by learning about things that make us laugh. Together, we’ll design comic strips and create crafts sure to get a giggle out of everyone! 
  • World Storytelling Day  |  Wednesday, March 20
    We’re hosting a special storytime to celebrate World Storytelling Day. Guests will make mini-books and bookmarks after we read  “The Book with No Pictures.” Story begins at 1 p.m. with crafts/activities beginning at 1:20 p.m.
  • Taco ‘Bout a Good Time  |  Thursday, March 21
    It’s National Crunchy Taco Day! We’re celebrating with some taco-riffic books and crafts that won’t be too cheesy or leave you breathing fire! (Can you guess which book we’ll be reading?) Story begins at 1 p.m. with crafts/activities beginning at 1:20 p.m.
  • Game Day  |  Friday, March 22
    Games and friendly competitions await you! Our game collection includes Operation Perfection, Giant Jenga, checkers, Uno, Candy Land and others that will delight everyone!

Animal Encounter

Saturday, March 23 | 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. &  1 - 2 p.m. | Ages 5 - 14 | 3 - 4 p.m. | All Ages 

The City of Altamonte Springs Park Rangers will bring special guests for a “wild” time at the Library. Come learn about local wildlife, their habitats and how to safely be around them. Admission is free. Registration is required.
