How to Apply
Applications can be obtained from or submitted to the Department of Human Resources in person, by mail or email, online, or by fax. A separate minimum qualification form and back page of the application is required for each position sought. Resumes are not accepted in lieu of a city application.

Application Submission
All questions on the application should be answered completely. Each application includes a Minimum Qualification Information form which is used exclusively for initial qualification and must be legibly completed. Completed applications must be submitted to the Department of Human Resources prior to the closing date and time specified on the posting.

Certificates, documentation, and other related materials required for the position are the sole responsibility of the applicant.

Veterans' Preference
When applying for a position, to be considered with Veterans' Preference make sure to indicate the appropriate category on the application, and submit the Veterans' Preference Certification and substantiating documentation with the application or prior to a final applicant selection. Questions regarding the required forms and substantiating documentation should be submitted to Human Resources at 407-571-8000 or .  Download the Veterans' Preference Certification (VP-1) here, the Current Reserve Member Certification (VP-2) here, and the Certification of Un-remarried Widow or Widower (VP-3) here, if applicable.

Application Process

Completed applications are held in Human Resources until the closing date. Each minimum qualification form is reviewed to determine eligibility for the position. Applications exhibiting the minimum qualifications are sent to the hiring department for review.

Applicants with the highest skills and most relevant work history required for the position will be contacted by the department supervisor for interview and/or testing, as required.

Testing can be in many forms, from a skills assessment to a physical fitness assessment. The selection process can take from 3 to 14 weeks, depending on the position.

If not selected for interview or testing, the applicant will be notified by mail or email after the hiring decision has been made. All inquiries regarding this process should be directed to the Department of Human Resources.

Application forms will only be accepted for jobs that are available and posted. Interested persons wishing to apply for positions not currently open may complete an Interest Card. Interest Cards can also be obtained from the department of Human Resources.
