Employee Assistance Program
The Employee Assistance Program provides confidential face-to-face and telephone counseling, online access to articles, webinars, and videos, as well as legal and financial services to all city employees and members of their households at no charge.

Deferred Compensation Plan
The City of Altamonte Springs provides eligible employees the opportunity to participate in a 457 or Roth IRA plan. Participation is employee funded and is voluntary.

The City of Altamonte Springs provides full-time employees with health and basic life insurance at no cost. Dental, vision, life, and disability insurance are also available for purchase by city employees. View current employee insurance options.

Leave Time & Paid Holidays

All full-time and part-time employees accrue paid leave time and catastrophic leave time on a monthly basis based on their length of service. All full and part-time employees receive nine paid holidays per year (eight declared and one floating holiday). View leave accrual and holiday information.

General full-time employees participate in one of two options to the Altamonte Springs Retirement System (ASRS):

Special Risk full-time employees participate in the Altamonte Springs Retirement (ASRS) program known as the Police Pension Plan.

Tuition Reimbursement
A Tuition Reimbursement Program is available to eligible full-time employees, dependent on specific requirements and based on available funds in each department’s fiscal year budget.

Wellness Program
The City of Altamonte Springs has long embraced good health and well-being of its employees by offering a Wellness Program with multiple components. This program includes, but is not limited to:
  • EAP Services - Includes individual member services (such as face-to-face counseling, telephone counseling, and clinical assessments) and organizational services (such as lunch and learn sessions, management consultations, website services, and critical incident consultations).
  • Free flu shots
  • Level I Wellness - Since 1994, participation in Level I Wellness involves use of two (working) hours per week for wellness activities (either at city gyms or walking programs) based on work load and supervisory approval.
  • Level II Wellness - Involves a voluntary fitness assessment twice a year to interested civilian employees. Incentives in the form of certificates for either a half day off or one full day off with pay are awarded to employees based on the results of the assessment. Sworn police officers are required to participate in this assessment and are rewarded with a wellness certificate for time off based on their test scores.
  • Periodic Health Fairs - Vendors from the city’s insurance providers and other local health experts from traditional and non-traditional practitioners who share information with city employees.
  • Six Package Health Screening - The city pays half the cost of a six package health screening to a limited number of employees. The screening includes Carotid Artery Ultrasound, Echocardiogram (Echo) Abdominal Aortic Ultrasound, Electrocardiogram (EKG), Blood Circulation Screening (ABI), and Hardening of the Arteries Screening (ASI).
